In recent years, Luxury in Montenegro has developed via two waterfront destinations — Porto Montenegro and Porto Novi Resort. Both have the feel of idyllic, Mediterranean-style villages, with elegant promenades, relaxed coastal energy, and a refined but welcoming atmosphere.

And while they might sound like something reserved for the ultra-wealthy, they’re spaces that invite you to slow down and soak it all in, without spending a fortune.
Porto Montenegro was the first of the two marinas, set along the shimmering Bay of Kotor. And yes — it’s home to luxury yachts, but don’t let that put you off. You don’t need a boat (or a big budget) to enjoy it. It’s perfect for a daytime wander: grab an iced coffee, stroll by the superyachts, stop for lunch or a gelato by the water 🍦. It’s affordable luxury.
Porto Novi, nestled in the calm of Boka Bay — an UNESCO World Heritage site — offers a different kind of charm. Think quiet elegance, mountain-meets-sea views, and a slower, more serene pace. With its chic promenades, breezy cafés and peaceful waterfront corners, it’s made for mindful moments 🧘🏻♀️.

Here you’ll find simple guides to the places we’ve actually enjoyed — from easy eats and slow walks to the kind of views that speak for themselves. Nothing overhyped, just the real highlights.
Desserts & Treats
GODO, Porto Novi
Known for its rich and creamy flavours, freshly-made pancakes, and real Italian coffee. “GODO” means “I feel pleasure” in Italian, and everything they serve truly lives up to its name. This is a must visit for us on every one of our (million) trips to Montenegro – a gorgeous little spot that never disappoints 🥐☕.
La Parisienne 4, Porto Montenegro (Tivat)
Ok, so we stumbled upon this place after we took a stroll down the Marina waterfront post lunch. It has this effortlessly chic Parisian patisserie charming atmosphere. And, sorry but, it feels almost criminal how cheap it is?! Wow, the most delicious cakes and sweet treats for as little as 0.60 cents. Yes, you heard that right, and yes, we did buy and devour 5 cakes. We would recommend going for the cakes as opposed to the ice cream or pastries. Rude not to. Run don’t walk.
Brunch with a view
Koffein, Porto Novi
Koffein is ideal for a chill brunch spot. It boasts a cute location right by the waterfront, with stunning sea views and super-yacht envy. The food and drink are super affordable – where you can get anything from iced coffee to tuna tartar tacos! It’s the kind of place you end up staying longer at than planned — easy, breezy, and always good vibes.

Kafeterija, Porto Novi
Known for the finest quality coffee, coffee nomads, this is for you. As always, accompanied by a breathtaking sea view, Kafeterija offers a diverse selection of coffee from around the globe. This is a franchise well-loved across the Balkans, and it never disappoints. So, for all you coffee enthusiasts who are craving a European do-nothing afternoon, this must be the place 🙏🏻.
Al Posto Giusto, Porto Montenegro
An Italian staple, Al Posto Giusto is a classic go-to for a light lunch and relax. With a beautiful little outdoor seating pier, you can sit amongst the water whilst enjoying your afternoon. Although a pizzeria, we would (weirdly) recommend going for their fish dishes or lunch sandwiches. The restaurant is very reasonably priced, with deliciously large portions.
Golden hour dinner spots
Noa, Porto Novi
A high recommendation from us: meet Noa. Tucked right into the heart of Porto Novi, this is a boho, lush green Japanese style restaurant that you must visit. Although slightly more expensive than our picks so far, we still feel for the location, service and food, the cost is exceptionally reasonable. Especially, if like us, you’re used to overpriced UK dinners (send help). If it fits your holiday plans and budget, Noa is a no brainer – perfect for a special occasion or simply a cosy, vibrant evening meal in the wonder that is Montenegro.

Malo Ribarsko Selo, Porto Novi
If you’re after a traditional taste of Montenegro with a touch of elegance, Malo Ribarsko Selo is the one. It blends local charm with a refined, almost rustic atmosphere — think warm lighting, checkered tablecloths 🍷🍽️, and the kind of cosy, candlelit setting that feels straight out of a quiet coastal village. The menu is full of variety, with options to suit every appetite and budget, from casual bites to more elevated plates. Expect fresh local seafood and ingredients straight from the Bay of Kotor — simple, honest, and beautifully done.
The real charm lies in how surprisingly approachable these places truly are. While the superyachts are undeniably aspirational (we get it, you have a helipad), the locations themselves invite everyday visitors (like us normies) to experience a touch of indulgence amidst your relaxing holidays. It’s a little slice of luxury made for the rest of us, and that’s exactly what makes it so special.
